SanRemo saves time, money and trouble

At Bauma 2010, Sandvik will present a new advanced version of the productivity service SanRemo, Sandvik remote monitoring. The service is accessible on the web and currently available for Sandvik surface Top Hammer Drills.

The SanRemo service provides considerable savings in time, money and trouble, since it offers easy access to accurate real-time job site data via the web. This entails a significant reduction in the number of required site visits and costly unexpected production stoppages. Based on production, performance and maintenance status reports supplied by the system, users can quickly detect any changes in efficiency and machine utilization, enabling them to accurately measure and forecast projects and make precise maintenance schedules without leaving the office. This, of course, translates into improvements in the excavation rate. Calculations show that SanRemo increases the production time by half an hour per shift, corresponding to an increase of 66,000 tons of excavated rock annually.

Three service levels
The SanRemo service is grouped into three levels: Silver, Gold and Platinum*. The service supplies different types of production and performance reports based on the chosen level and parameters. The parameters available include drilled meters, number of holes, average hole depth, engine hours, rock drill percussion hours, level of usage, average penetration rate and fuel consumption. SanRemo also offers reports for maintenance management based on actual equipment usage, displaying the estimated date for next maintenance and the time remaining until this date. This allows maintenance to be precisely scheduled and the required parts to be ordered well in advance. Furthermore, the service can offer full equipment service history.
The SanRemo service includes a GPS-based tracking function. The function displays the exact site location, thus significantly facilitating the optimization of transportation routes for the machine as well as the field service personnel.

Easy to use
SanRemo's modern and simple user interface is designed for everyday use. The views and reports can be easily customized to match the requirements of different users, or user groups with varying interests. SanRemo also offers the opportunity to export all the reports into PDF or Excel format. The SanRemo hardware includes a data-collection module and a GPS receiver installed on the rig. These are available as an option on new rigs and as a retrofit kit for older models. The system applies GSM and GPRS technologies for communication between the rig and the SanRemo server.

*Platinum level service to be released in autumn 2010
