Even tougher than before: the all-new Sandvik RS410 raiseboring cutter

Sandvik is now launching RS410, the next generation raiseboring cutter. With a new design and tougher carbides for reduced insert breakage, it can provide up to 20% longer service life depending on rock conditions - improving safety and reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

Sandvik offers advanced solutions for all conventional raiseboring, down-reaming and box hole boring needs, covering inclined vertical as well as horizontal shafts. The organization’s range of pilot bits, reaming heads and cutters, all designed and manufactured in-house, provides customers with easy-to-use, safe and productive raiseboring solutions.

“The new RS410 cutter takes our raiseboring offering to the next level. Customer safety, sustainability and productivity are always at the heart of our product development, and the RS410 fits the bill in all these aspects. With it, our customers can significantly improve their raiseboring performance.”, says Russell Clayton, Product Manager Rotary and Raiseboring at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ Rock Tools Division.

New RS410: even tougher than before

The new RS410 cutter features an updated roller bearing design, improved carbide inserts for reduced breakage and an upgraded lubricant with higher heat tolerance than previous cutters.

In raiseboring, changing cutters results in significant downtime, as the process can take up to a week to complete. It also brings safety risks for operators working within the raiseboring area. Longer service life is therefore key in all raiseboring operations: up to 20% improved service life can be achieved with the new RS410, bringing the potential to unlock great productivity, sustainability and safety improvements.

“We now look forward to seeing the new cutter enter the market, setting a new standard for safety, productivity and sustainability. As we start to serve more and more customers with the RS410 cutter, we will begin to transition to offering only the new product, ensuring that all of our raiseboring customers can improve their operations”, says Russell Clayton.

The RS410 cutter is available for order immediately, in the same assortment as the current cutter.
