Sandvik presents new rock drills at MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2021

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is launching two new compact rock drills at MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2021 in Las Vegas, complementing its offering in rock bolting and drilling.

The new Sandvik RD315 rock drill is a compact and durable rock drill with longer piston and higher impact energy. The higher impact energy and lower frequency makes it an efficient rock drill ideally designed for rock bolting. It is completely interchangeable with Sandvik RD314 rock drills in all equipment.

Sandvik RD315 is launched together with a third-generation upgrade to the existing Sandvik RD314 rock drill. The two rock drills form an optimal pair for bolting drill rigs with drilling and bolting lines. Sandvik RD315, together with the third-generation Sandvik RD314 for drilling, has proven to significantly reduce bolting cycle time in field tests.

The third-generation Sandvik RD314 rock drill has an improved internal lubrication and efficiency. It reduces caviation and improves rock drill life. There are several modifications in the rock drill body, in the piston, as well as new and innovative material used in the seals and bearings, which play a part in improving rock drill life and reliability. Modifications have also been made for improved usability and serviceability.

Sandvik will also present the Sandvik RD212 rock drill at MINExpo. Scheduled for launch in early 2022, Sandvik RD212 is a replacement for Sandvik H200, utilizing the modern and tested Sandvik rock drilling technology. It is completely interchangeable with Sandvik H200 in all equipment. The new Sandvik RD212 offers reliability with 500-hour service intervals as well as more power, improving penetration rate and productivity.

Sandvik RD315 is now available as an option for new Sandvik equipment and as a retrofit to replace existing Sandvik RD314 rock drills. A limited pre-series of Sandvik RD212 is available now until the official product launch early next year.
